7 Days of Paradise
If you have never been on a cruise, I highly recommend that you put it on your bucket list. It is definitely one of the most relaxing, yet fun vacations with plenty to do on land and sea! I had the pleasure of going on a cruise as my college graduation gift (thanks mommy and daddy! J ) with friends I grew up with back in New York. We went on Carnival Valor; a 7-day excursion that started in Miami, and went to Grand Cayman, Roatan, Belize, and Cozumel. I could sit and tell you about all of my different experiences on the cruise, but I’d rather not. So I will share some of my most favorite times on Carnival Valor!
Day 2- Roatan, Honduras
Although I didn’t go to the beach this day, it was one of my favorite islands. My friends and I were welcomed by a band of steel pans and marimbas and beautiful bright colors of the citizens. Our tour guide, Orlando, was amazing, he actually only spoke Spanish (and I was able to impress him with my Spanish-speaking skills). He drove us around the city, countryside, shops, and an iguana farm. Yes, iguana farm where the owners protect the island’s iguanas – watch the video for more! Ironically, after visiting the farm, we had samples of iguana meat and you could see the scales floating in the dish. The thought of eating this reptile made my stomach turn, but it actually tasted like curry goat (for my islanders out there) lol.
Day 5- Cozumel, Mexico
I’ll admit I was a little skeptical about going to Mexico after all that I heard not such great reviews about the country. However, Cozumel proved me wrong! Our tour guide drove us along the beach as we passed by lavish homes. Then it started to pour. We thought our day was ruined, but fortunately the sun came out and dried up all the rain! Our first stop was the Tequila factory, where we learned how tequila is made and had several samples (YESSS!). We sampled pomegranate to coffee tequila, and all were delicious! Our final destination of the day was a resort beach. My friends and I went snorkeling for the first time, and I managed to get a 25-minute massage on the beach for $20! It was AMAZING. And you know I couldn’t leave Mexico without buying a sombrero!
Happy Travels!
