The Casey Anthony Trial: the verdict is in!:::....

**Courtesy of CNN**

(CNN) -- It was up to seven women and five men in an Orlando courtroom to decide the fate of Casey Anthony on Tuesday. But by the time they issued their verdict, tens of thousands more people had made their own decisions on the high-profile case.
The jury's decision to acquit the Orlando mother on charges she had murdered her then-2-year-old daughter Caylee sent shock waves through the legions who have been following the trial in person, on television and online. In a case marked by emotion, intrigue and intense interest, the verdict lived up to its billing -- even as it disappointed the many of those who have been captivated by the Anthony family's drama.
"If she didn't kill her, who did?" said Buddy Frazier, 72, of what he'd ask the jury. "This many people can't be wrong."
The Woodstock, Georgia, resident was one of many whose jaws dropped when they watched the verdict from home, feeling justice was not served. That view was seemingly widespread Tuesday outside the Orange County courthouse, where dozens appeared visibly upset as they loudly decried the verdict.
While not all agreed with it, the decision marked the end of a case that began three years ago, and a trial that began in May. But it has also left many questions unanswered.
Evelyn Kerr, who believes the jury did the right thing, said that that lingering uncertainty is the toughest thing. Due to rules about "double jeopardy," the state cannot try Casey Anthony again and there's been no indication of other suspects or new evidence to move the case forward again.
"What happened, I don't know," Kerr said, adding that she wasn't sure whether Casey Anthony was innocent but also didn't believe there was enough evidence to convict her. "I want to know what happened to this poor child."
As much as the depth of the emotion, the breadth of the reaction also matched the much-stated assessment that the Casey Anthony case is, thus far, the trial of the 21st century.
At one point, for instance, nine of the top 10 trending topics on Twitter related to the case -- with hash tags that ranged from #notguilty to #shocked. Just over a half-hour after the news came out, CNN.com's story on the topic had more than 5,000 comments.
Several people outside of the courtroom on Tuesday referred to the case as "O.J. Number Two," drawing a parallel with O.J. Simpson's acquittal on charges he'd murdered his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman.
While some spectators were claiming that a jury had sided wrongly in both cases, Purdue University sociologist Jack Spencer said that the comparison fit for other reasons.
"It's quite a phenomenon," said Spencer, shortly before the verdict was announced. "The obvious similarity (with Simpson) is that this is a court case that's generated a media frenzy. Another similarity is that there is a widespread perception that Casey Anthony is guilty, but that she might get off."
Jennifer Culver, a 38-year-old mother of two from Alabaster, Alabama, felt that was exactly what happened. She said that she first got hooked after seeing footage of Casey Anthony "shaking her prison-appointed flip-flop (when) they were talking about how she had a missing child."
"Something is not right here," Culver recalled thinking.
She added that the entire case was like "going to the zoo and looking at an animal," fascinating as she never knew what was going to happen. After the verdict came down, Culver said that she was flabbergasted. She also believes, like many legal experts, that Casey Anthony will be freed later this week on time served despite her conviction for lying to investigators.
"I feel she got away with murder," Culver said. "I just can't believe she's going to be walking around soon. I just can't imagine what her life is going to be like, what her parents' life is going to be like."
For Culver, like most others, Casey Anthony was an unknown -- and not a celebrity like Simpson, a football legend and actor -- when reports surfaced three years ago that her child was missing. But the fact that a child was dead, and her mother had been accused of killing her, struck a personal chord with Culver and compelled her to follow the case.
The same happened with Kerr, who has a teenage daughter and a son who is Casey's age, and grandchildren. Frazier, too, is a grandfather of seven, one of whom is a girl the age Caylee Anthony would have been had she lived.
"My life is over, and their life is all ahead of them," said Frazier of his grandchildren. "I will never move on (after the Anthony verdict). It'll always be in my memory.

We want to hear from you!...What are your thoughts? Was Casey Anthony's verdict just? Do you agree with the jury's decision?

National Football League, Collective Bargaining Agreement::...

For all of my NFL fans, they know that it has been 100 days since the beginning of the NFL lockout, which is the longest work stoppage in NFL history.  The National Football League (NFL) and its affiliates are having a problem coming to an agreement with the collective bargaining situation.  The current dilemma is that the owners want to be greedy and obtain more revenue off of the players.  The owners also propose an 18 game schedule, but plan on paying the players less money for more games.  With the players wanting more money and the owners being stubborn, many players are threatening there be a lockout or that no one plays in the upcoming season until they can have more money.

On August 8, 2006, Roger Goodell was chosen as the eighth NFL Commissioner in National Football League history.”  Goodell has expressed his concern for not having a lockout, because it would be negative for fans.  Most fans and players would hate the idea of having no football for the 2011-2012
seasons, just because the owners were not reasonable in the offer to the players. A sports writer from the Times- Picayune wrote, “If a deal isn't reached, the NFL will face a 2011 season with no salary cap. And if the CBA expires in March 2011, the league will face lockout.” Goodell also promised to take a $1 salary for the upcoming season, if an agreement was not made and jeopardizes the 2011-2012 season. Each side is eager to get something done before Circuit Court of Appeals rules on the league's request to permanently block an injunction that originally lifted the lockout.  When the lockout was lifted, players were able to workout in the facility and acquire playbooks, but of course that ruling was overturned a few days later. The fate of next season, however, still remains in limbo.
My opinion is that Roger Goodell doesn’t care what the agreement is; he just wants everyone to be on the same page.  The owners are being greedy because even if they don’t come to an agreement, they will still get $4 million from the media contracts that are set in place with FOX.  His $1.00 salary for the season, it a bit extreme even if he does make about $10 million a year including bonuses.  Goodell could easily facilitate the situation so that there won’t be a lockout in the upcoming season.
This new agreement should be made very quickly so that fans won’t be disappointed. With the pre-season staring in early August, owners and players should make a resolution to come to an agreement for the sake of football and the integrity of the game.  But, time is running out for all that to happen without a disruption in the NFL's schedule and plans, especially since hundreds of players will be free agents when a new CBA is signed. The first training camp is scheduled to open on July 22, when the Chicago Bears players hope to report and the regular season is scheduled to open on Thursday, Sept. 8.

With the help of Stephen Colbert, here are some things to think about:
·         I might have to find another way to entertain my Sunday and Monday's when the fall semester starts.
·         As of now, I suggest all my NFL fans to capture the essence of Monday Night Paddle Dancing.
·         I truly feel bad for those people who spend over $300/month for the Direct TV NFL  package.
·         More people will use YouTube to post their own highlights from a flag football game.

Beware of the..:: Freshman 13::.. >:[

Typically the first semester at a college or university is a transitional period for a college freshman, where they break apart from the rules and regulations of their parents to become self ruling young adults. This change of lifestyle removes the parental guidance teens have lived with their entire life. In this new environment, a college freshman is able to go as they please, do what they please, drink and eat what they want, when they want.
Causes of the Freshman 13
The causes of the freshman 13 may seem to be common sense for many people, but others struggle to understand why they gain so much weight during the first year at a college or university. Here is a list of a few of the causes of the freshman thirteen that should be avoided as much as possible:
·         Lack of exercise
·         Eating late at night
·         Keeping unhealthy snacks on hand (in the dorm room)
·         Eating unhealthy cafeteria food
·         Drinking excessive amounts of alcohol
·          napping too much
·         caffeine in the evening
Freshman 13 Facts
Contrary to common belief, most freshman college students do not gain 13 pounds. Recent studies show that on average, most freshmen gain 5 pounds. Note: This is just an average, indicating there are students who gain much more weight than that, and some students loose weight.
The Freshman 13 Challenge

The freshman 13 challenge is to stay fit and eat healthy while maintaining a very busy schedule. Most college students are constantly on the go, which makes it more difficult to find time to exercise, and to eat right instead of just grabbing "fast food". Challenge yourself to make healthy eating and regular exercise part of your daily routine to help avoid the freshman 13. Instead of riding the bus everywhere walk thru the campus and site see ( it is truly a beautiful campus). If you can, instead of eating big meals through out the day, try and eat small meals to speed up your metabolism. Also due to the heat in Tallahassee I advise you to always carry water with you. Drinking too much juice and soda will dehydrate you and add unnecessary sugar to your body. Also, in college you will experience many BBQ’s, this is fine but don’t overdue yourself with the greasy foods. Also FSU’s gym is free to any FSU student, take the time to visit the gym and see what you like. They also offer classes such as Zumba, Kicking Boxing, Spinning, and much more. I know we all tend to eat what taste's good rather then getting the nutrition we need, but lets balance it out.  For example, pizza taste amazing, but not at 3 am. Think smart, Think bright, Think what is best for you, Think for your future.
Here are  13 easy ways to adopt a healthy food attitude:
·         avoid eating when stressed, while studying, or while watching TV
·         eat slowly
·         eat at regular times
·         try not to skip meals (this is something that happens a lot in college)
·         keep between-meal and late-night snacking to a minimum
·         choose a mix of nutritious foods
·         pick lower-fat options when you can, such as low-fat milk instead of whole milk or light salad dressing instead of full-fat dressing
·         watch the size of your portions
·         resist going back for additional servings (this is hard for me, yikes!)
·         steer clear of vending machines
·         avoid eating too much fast food (Mc Donald’s is walking distance from campus, O_o)
·         keep healthy snacks like fruit and vegetables on hand in your room
·         replace empty-calorie soft drinks with water every so often
